Northport Promise Announces Increase in Scholarship Awards
The Northport Promise has increased its annual scholarship maximum to $2,500 a year for those students attending Northport Public School for 12 years.
Students who attend Northport for a shorter time are eligible for pro-rated scholarships based on the number of years of attendance.
The increased amount will be paid to all scholarships recipients who are eligible for a scholarship in 2025.
The Northport Promise was founded in 2007 and awarded its first scholarships totaling $11,200 in 2008.
Since then, The Northport Promise has helped nearly 100 students attend college and has awarded over $430,000 in scholarships. One of the unique aspects of the program is that scholarships are renewable for a total of four years.
“As one of the first group of students to receive a Northport Promise scholarship, I know what a help it is to pay for college,” says Northport Promise President Ryan Blessing.
“I’m pleased to announce this increase to help future generations of Northport students attend either a trade school, a community college or a university.”
The Northport Promise is an all-volunteer organization that raises funds through individual donations, an annual Northport Promise Scholarship Open and one other event each year.
